St. Simon the Apostle

Active Parishioner Status Qualifications

The Saint Simon parish Pastoral Council has assigned the Stewardship Committee with the responsibility of determining whether school applicants and current school families should be assigned (1) Active Parishioner status or (2) Non-Active parishioner status.

This status assignment will impact priority of placement for school applicants and school tuition rate for school families. Active Parishioner Status entitles school families to pay a lower tuition rate than non-active parishioners. The tuition rate is set by the School Commission and is not a function of the Stewardship Committee.

The 2008– 2009 school year single child tuition rates are:

Active Parishioner Rate $4,213
Non-active Parishioner Rate $6,996

The extended tuition rates for 2008 – 2009 can be obtained by clicking here.

The following guidelines will be used by the Stewardship Committee to determine school applicant and school family status for the 2008-2009 school year:

*
Registered Saint Simon Family.
*
Regular Mass Attendance.
*
Regular and Appropriate Stewardship Contributions to Saint Simon.
*
Sharing Time and Talent in Ministry at Saint Simon.
*
Return of Completed Stewardship Intention Card.
*
Commitment to the “Broader Church” through Legacy for Our Mission capital campaign.

Each guideline must be met for a family to qualify for Active Parishioner Status.

It is acknowledged by the Pastoral Council, the School Commission and the Stewardship Committee, that individual circumstances may limit a family’s ability to participate fully in the guidelines laid out for qualification for active parishioner status and the resulting lower school tuition rates.

Consideration will be given in these circumstances, but consideration must be requested.

Definition of Guidelines:

*

Registered Saint Simon Family.

The parish office has a record of all current registered parishioners.

*

Regular Mass Attendance.

Consultation with the pastor to determine weekly attendance.

*

Regular and Appropriate Stewardship Contributions to St. Simon.

The business office will monitor all stewardship contributions to St. Simon using the following formula as guidance: A working family should make regular contributions in an amount at least equal to 50% of the average giving level of all contributing parishioners at St. Simon. For the current year, this average giving level is approximately $1,700; 50% of this amount is $850.
Individual circumstances will be taken into consideration when requested.

*

Sharing Time and Talent in Ministry at Saint Simon.

Consistent involvement in parish and/or school volunteer opportunities.

*

Return of Completed Stewardship Intention Card.

Parish office keeps record of all returned stewardship intention cards.

*

Commitment to the “Broader Church” through Legacy for Our Mission capital campaign.
