The school commission, composed of one appointed and six elected parishioners, is the policy-making body for St. Simon the Apostle School. In addition to its policy-making role, the School Commission works with the school administrators and parish finance committee to develop the school budget and tuition rates. Members serve 3-year terms, with elections in late spring.
There are 2 positions available for School Commission. The nominees are:
Bill Monachino - "I enjoy contributing to the St. Simon community through the active involvement of committees and groups. I view this as an opportunity to do that and to help the school continue to grow by applying my talents and skills."
Rob Hruskoci - "Having attended Catholic School for 12 years, I believe strongly that my Catholic education has everything to do with who I am today. Not only was my education outstanding and memorable, but with out a doubt, my schooling shaped my moral compass. I am fortunate to have time to give back, and I feel that serving on the School Commission will allow me to help the families of St. Simon develop together with their children a foundation that will stay with them for life"
Ann Morrell - "By serving on the school commission, I would be able to lend my time and talent to the students, school and church community. I am a stay-at-home mom with a kindergartener and a 2 ½ year old, and there are many things that I cannot help out with because of commitments to my children and their daily schedules. As a school commission member, I would be able to have an active roll in helping to continue building the positive environment at St. Simon. I would be able to use my prior teaching experiences in combination with my parenting experiences to be a voice for the community."
Barbara Morgan - "My children (Donna & Steven Denney) Graduated from St. Simon years ago. I have 7 grandchildren (in other states) and I have a desire to be involved with the school - actually feel a calling."
Patrick Hurley - "I have two children in school at St. Simon. My wife Lori volunteers in many different school-related capacities. I enjoy being involved in activities that are helpful to my and all of the children at St. Simon."
Anne Andrews - "During my past five years as a St. Simon parent, I have looked for ways to become more involved in the school. I started out by resurrecting the parish list serve. I then transitioned to helping keep the St. Simon website current. Last year I assumed the role of Scrip Coordinator because I felt that it was the one fundraiser that not only helped the PFO, but also gave back to the church, youth ministry, and helped families directly reduce their tuition expense. I am now looking for other ways to help with the direction of the school as well as address areas I feel need to be improved. I feel the school commission is a great conduit to have an influence in the direction the school is heading in the future... after all, I will have children at St. Simon until the graduating class of 2022!"
Francie Flood - With four children enrolled in Saint Simon for the 2008-2009 school year, serving on the school commission would provide and opportunity to directly support my children's education as well as the entire community.

This group helps our pastor in all aspects that affect St. Simon and the parishioners. Under the leadership of our pastor they oversee and review policies of all ministries of St. Simon.
There are 4 positions available for Parish Council. The nominees are:
Gary deCastro - "Being involved in a parish is very important for our family. We don't see it as an obligation but as an integral part of who we are and fulfilling God's call to share of our time and talents. As described in the book, The Servant as a Leader , I felt called to serve, to serve first. Each ministry I was a part of helped to strengthen my faith and the importance of lay people in today's church. To serve as a parish pastoral council member at St. Simon means I can bring new ideas or a different perspective form my experiences; but I can also help lead and build upon the foundation that has already been established. We have been blessed with many faith-filled friends at Holy Spirit; however in the short period of time that we have been at St. Simon, we have met many new families and are energized to be involved and serve our new parish."
Pete Cerar - "I would like to be on the Parish Council because I believe my past & current involvement in the church and my commitment to making St. Simon a stronger community would benefit St. Simon. I am married to my wife Sherri who is also very active in St. Simon. We have 4 children and 3 are currently enrolled at St. Simon. I would like to see more parishioners become more active in all of our church activities. I enjoy going to 9:30am Mass, visiting friends during coffee & donuts, and being active in the parish. I believe we have an exciting growth opportunity and our commitment to our faith can be stronger at St. Simon with the right leadership and the right direction. Being a part of that leadership and that future direction would be an honor and privilege if I were to become part of the Parish Council.
