Edge
The "EDGE" is a ministry program for all middle school youth of our parish, grades 6th - 8th. Through the EDGE, our youth meet two times a month on Sunday evenings from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for educational sessions regarding their Catholic faith. Our goal is to give our middle school youth the edge, the Catholic edge, the Jesus edge as they go through this time of change in their lives. In many respects middle school youth are on the edge because so much is going on in their lives physically, mentally, spiritually and socially. It can be stressful and difficult for them and you as parents. That is why we welcome you to register your son or daughter for the EDGE.
Our youth gather as community. They are led by a Core Team of adults who facilitate small group discussion, prayer and activities. As middle schoolers, our youth have many choices before them. Through the EDGE we hope to help these youth make the choice of Jesus Christ and their Catholic Community as a priority in their life.
The other important aspect of EDGE is a social setting. Throughout the year, once a month on a Friday or Saturday evening, social events are planned for our youth. This gives our middle schoolers an opportunity to gather with their friends, make new friendships and build their own sense of St. Simon community. We have seven different middle schools that feed into our parish!!!! The social evenings are chaperoned by our Core Team and parent volunteers. The commitment to Jesus, St. Simon and the EDGE will serve as a great foundation for a middle school youngster's life.
You must register your son or daughter for the EDGE program. Download the on-line registration form and submit it to the Office of Faith Formation via mail or email. The fee for the year is $70.00.
