What is the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)?

The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC for short) is a biennial gathering of high school youth from around the United States. It is an opportunity for you to experience the true universality of the Catholic Church by praying, going to Mass, and experiencing Christ in Reconciliation and Adoration with other Catholics from around the country.

NCYC always attracts some of the biggest and best known Catholic speakers and musicians, and brings them together to share their time and experiences with you in break-out sessions and workshops.

There are also plenty of opportunities for you to get to know other people from different regions of the U.S. Entertainment includes concerts, a dance, a comedy club as well as interactive exhibits.

Ultimately, NCYC is a weekend get-together with 20,000+ of your closest friends!

When is NCYC?

This year, NCYC is being held Thursday, November 17 through Sunday, November 19.

 

Who can go to the National Catholic Youth Conference?

The National Catholic Youth Conference is open to youth ages 14-18 and who are still in high school. Young adults 18-21 and who are high school graduates are eligible to attend as "Peer Mentors." Adults are able to attend as chaperones for groups of youth.

 

 

Why should I go to NCYC?

NCYC is a great opportunity for you to meet other Catholic youth from around the United States while at the same time entering into a deeper relationship with Christ and His Church. It is an experience unlike almost any other event because you will be surrounded by 20,000 other Catholic youth that want to become more engaged in their faith and Church. NCYC attracts some of the most well known Catholic speakers, so the presentations are always top of the line and engaging.

NCYC will give you a great experience of the universal Church while deepening your faith and letting you have fun do it. So the question isn't "Why should I go to NCYC?" The question is "Why shouldn't I?"

 

 

 

 NCYC 2011 Registration Information

A couple of questions have come up in regards to NCYC:

 

  • All the information that we have to date on the young adult track, the Catholic Collegiate Conference, is on the website which is only a flyer.  Registration materials including a schedule have not yet been submitted to us.  We will upload as soon as we receive them.

 

  • In lieu of the “Pre-Rally” that we have had in the past, we are offering the Wednesday (11/16/11) night concert.  Details are still being worked out, but the time is set from 7:30-9:30 PM at the Convention Center.  There will be no additional cost and we are trying to secure a well-known artist and release that name as soon as possible.  You will have an opportunity to pick up the diocesan package backpacks and t-shirts at that time along with anything that you may order from our on-line store “The Majestic Shop”.  I would encourage you to schedule “Pilgrim Gatherings” for your parish groups and resources for that can be found on the website. Additional information that our office needs to communicate to you (i.e. final schedules, chaperone guidelines etc.) will either be on the website, given at the Administrators’ Conference or Fall Day of Reflection.

Registration will be a 3 step process:

  1. Invite & distribute paperwork to youth  (I have this ppwk and will get it to you at the next meeting. )
  2. Collect paperwork & enter data on-line (This will be done by me)
  3. Submit paperwork and payment (Done by me)

The following is the projected packages for the National Catholic Youth Conference 2011

JW Marriott Hotel, downtown:          Thursday through Saturday (no other option).  Transportation not included!

 

Youth or Adult:       Registration + Hotel           4 in room      $370

  • So far, 46 teens and 10 adults from St. Simon,  have signed up to attend the conference!
  • 2 of our teens, Annie Fleming and Charlie Wessel have been selected as Youth Animators for NCYC!
