Reconciliation or Penance is one of the Sacraments of Healing. The Sacrament is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church in which the faithful obtain absolution for the sins committed against God and neighbor and are reconciled with the community of the Church
Any 2nd grader who has received formal catechesis and has been enrolled in Sunday Faith Formation classes or Saint Simon the Apostle school will receive the sacrament of First Reconciliation. As part of the preparation for First Reconciliation, the parents must attend a 1st Reconciliation/ 1st Holy Eucharist Parent Session in the fall which includes information for your family.
The sacrament of First Reconciliation will begin with a prayer service. There will be visiting clergy from surrounding parishes that will assist us with this healing celebration.
A fee of $50.00 per child for the sacrament of Reconciliation is due in the fall. This fee covers the expenses of books, activities, retreats, etc. If your child is not baptized at St. Simon the Apostle, please submit an official baptismal certificate from the church where the child was baptized. Please provide this to the Office of Faith Formation at the beginning of the year. If your child was baptized at St. Simon the Apostle, no certificate is required. Complete the Sacrament Form for our records.
